Biserka Vasić
Biserka Vasić was born into a Belgrade artistic family. She completed her graduate and specialist conducting studies at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in 2008, in the class of Professor Emeritus Darinka Matić Marović. During her studies, she also studied Orthodox religious music.
She sang in the choir “Melodi” and the choir of the Church of St. Aleksandar Nevsky in Belgrade, where she conducted for a while. She participated in spiritual academies of Jošanica, Studenica and Sremski Karlovci monasteries, as well as in St. Petersburg, where she was a scholarship holder.
From 2005 to 2015, she worked as an artistic associate at the “Madlenianum” Opera House in Zemun, as a conductor and organizer of the youth choir. From 2006 to 2015, she conducted the “St. George” Choir at the Church of St. George, in Belgrade. With that ensemble, she had numerous concerts in Serbia and abroad: Austria, Germany, Bulgaria, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, etc.
She won prestigious recognitions and awards: “Vojislav Ilić” for the best vocal ensemble and the best female conductor, two gold medals at the Festival in Bijeljina, as well as a special praise at the “Dostojno jest” Festival in Bulgaria. During 2010 and 2011, she was the artistic director of the “Choirs among the Frescoes” Festival in Belgrade.
Since 2015, she has been working in Austria as a conductor and music educator. She founded the vocal ensemble “Ksenija Petrogradska” and the music studio “Artem sonum” in 2019. From 2015 to 2020, she was a member of the Viennese concert choir “Wiener Singverein” of the “Musikverein” music organisation. As a member of this choir, she performed with some of the world’s most famous orchestras such as: Vienna Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, etc. She also trained at master classes with eminent European educators and was the organizer of humanitarian concerts on several occasions.
